Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide analog of the endogenous tuftsin peptide with an added glycine-proline-lysine (Gly-Pro-Lys) sequence at the C-terminus. With the molecular formula C₄₆H₇₃N₁₃O₁₃ and a molecular weight of 1046.2 g/mol (CAS: 129954-34-3), Selank consists of seven amino acids: Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro.
Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-ProKozlovskaya et al. (2012) characterized Selank's binding to GABA-A receptors and its allosteric modulation properties in neuronal cell cultures (PMID: 22786332).
PMID: 22786332VERIFY PMIDKozlovsky et al. (2012) investigated Selank's effects on neurotransmitter systems and cytokine expression in brain tissue models (PMID: 22968004).
PMID: 22968004VERIFY PMIDUchakina et al. (2010) examined Selank's immunomodulatory properties and interleukin expression in immune cell cultures (PMID: 20717095).
PMID: 20717095VERIFY PMIDSelank binds to GABA-A receptors as an allosteric modulator, affecting receptor subunit composition and chloride channel conductance (PMID: 22786332).
Published research indicates Selank influences interleukin-6 expression and other inflammatory mediators in glial cell cultures (PMID: 22968004).
